Is a subscription to the NY Times fit for inclusion in a library’s collection?

In light of the recent question posed to his readership by the Public Editor of the NY Times, (excellent response here) is a subscription to the NY Times fit for inclusion in a library’s collection? Librarians are trained to recognize and provide authoritative resources, and this guy basically admitted that the NY Times doesn’t fact check.  So, when looking to trim budgets wherever possible, maybe this cut isn’t too hard to justify anymore.  What do you think?
